Einführung in die feministische Literaturtheorie

This introduction offers a critical overview of the development of international feminist literary theory. It offers orientation among the divergent directions and their representatives and encourages reflection on 'women and literature' in general. In particular, Lena Lindhoff illuminates the paradigm shift from Anglo-American to French and from socio-historical to post-structuralist theoretical models and the consequences that these different theoretical orientations entail for the determination of 'femininity' and 'writing'. Thus, the volume discusses the common association in poststructuralist theorizing of a 'feminine' writing with a 'hysterical' symptomatology and asks about the possibilities and limits of a different aesthetic.
