Einführung in den Islam

The number of Muslim children and young people in Germany is now well over one million. Students come into contact with Muslims every day at school and in their free time, but little is known about the faith and way of life in Islam. This lesson aims to contribute to understanding and knowledge of this foreign religion and culture and - where necessary - to help break down existing prejudices. The lesson is divided into three thematic sequences: 'Mohammed and the Koran', 'Church and Mosque' and 'The Five Pillars of Islam'. This provides a student-oriented introduction to the origins and spread of this second largest religious community on earth, its religious pillars and the most important terms and symbols. For each topic sequence, there is information on preparation, learning objectives, entry points, an overview of tasks, and supplementary information.
