Comparison of urine sediments between data obtained from an automated platform, the Roche UF 1000 flow cytometer, and the gold standard method of optical microscopy. This study was conducted using raw data from known patients, whose expected results allowed us to define the non-pathological sample parameters obtained with automated devices. It was a rewarding experience to work with trained laboratory personnel, to use standardized guidelines for urine preparation for microscopic examination, and to achieve highly efficient and reliable results. The new protocol was applied to the reports received from the physician.
