Product details
Seventeen-year-old Justyce comes from an African American neighborhood near Atlanta, but due to a scholarship, he is one of the few African American students attending an expensive private school. In diary-like letters, he addresses his role model Martin Luther King Jr. and shares his experiences with racism and police violence, as well as with friendship and love. When Justyce and his African American friend Manny encounter a police officer who has also experienced violence, it triggers various conflicts: on the streets, in the media, between African Americans and white police officers, and in Justyce's life. This coming-of-age novel, published in 2017, is primarily suitable for introductory topics such as The Individual and Society, particularly Growing Up or Challenges in Teenage Life, as well as The African-American Experience. In the qualification phase, there is a deepening of themes such as Postcolonial/Neo-Colonial Experiences and The Media.
