Naples in the 90s: American student Heddi lives in a shared apartment in the vibrant Spanish Quarter. Down in the narrow streets, it is dark even in summer, while the sun blazes into the apartments above, and the volcano watches over the city. Heddi feels free, and her friends provide her with the security of a family she never had. One day, she meets geology student Pietro, who hands her a mixtape of love songs without much explanation. It marks the beginning of a great love—unexpected, intense, and confusing. Heddi and Pietro understand each other without words, and they are certain: their feelings will overcome all obstacles.
