Peace be upon you! How can I help? Rashid Hamid runs his Hamburg nursing service with great dedication and love. The encounters with people in need of assistance bring a smile to his face. Even though the daily routine of caregiving can sometimes be challenging, Rashid would choose this profession again and again. Behind the many homes and faces are entire lives filled with both sad and beautiful stories. Rashid also shares his story. He gives a voice to the many caregivers in Germany for whom their work is more than just a job.

"I learn from my patients. Especially when they are nearing the end of their lives, there’s often a saying that makes me reflect or helps me enjoy my life more. I wake up in the morning and think: Well, let’s see what today brings and what will happen. The job is varied and incredibly diverse – you can work in nursing homes, care facilities, on the intensive care unit in hospitals, provide home care, work in psychiatry or correctional facilities, or in rehabilitation. You can further your education to become a wound care expert or a nursing service manager, or even start your own business. You talk to patients, their families, and doctors. I believe we should show what this profession can do and all that it offers. Caregiving is valuable and can truly accomplish a lot. It can make you a better person, even if that sounds silly or exaggerated. But that’s how it is!" Rashid Hamid.
