Ein Faden Freude, ein Faden Leid: Die Hofer und Bamberger Textilindustrie von 1800-1920 im Vergleich

This study presents and compares the textile industries of Hof and Bamberg from 1800 to 1920. It begins with a brief overview of the Industrial Revolution, which was of crucial importance for Hof and Bamberg, as the first mechanical textile factories emerged during this period. Additionally, it examines the development of the textile trades in both cities from their origins in the 14th century up to around 1800. The focus of the investigation is on the founding circumstances of the Hof and Bamberg textile factories in the 1850s, as well as the general economic situation and policies at both the international and national levels from 1800 to 1920, along with their specific impacts on the textile trades of both cities. Furthermore, the study looks at the technical equipment and development, the products manufactured, and the capital and sales conditions of the factories.
