Product details
Northern Germany, around 1850: John Hansen - more out of recklessness than criminal inclination - became a criminal and tried to regain a foothold in "normal" life. He meets the girl Hanna, they marry, have a daughter, Christine, and live in a cottage on the edge of the village. But he can't get rid of the stigma of being a prisoner, the people in the village call him John "Glückstadt" after the name of the prison where he was imprisoned. John finds work less and less often and in a quarrel with his wife his domestic happiness breaks down. Storm's dramatic master novella has been congenially illustrated by Julie Völk with fine lines. "After this John had served his sentence, he was, as is customary, left to his dear fellow world to hunt.
