We love to maintain the illusion that living together with our fellow humans is characterized by mutual trust, cooperation, appreciation, respect, justice, reason, and love. Egocentrics do not exist in this beautiful, perfect world. But in the real world, there are overwhelmingly many. In dealing with egocentrics, there is no balance. Either the egocentric dominates you, or you dominate the egocentric. Most conflicts of interest arise from the attempt to achieve this dominance. In "Successfully Engaging Egocentrics," we meet Sven: he tries to resolve the conflicts with the egocentrics in his life in a factual and reasonable manner. However, he keeps stumbling. Until he realizes that his world is not as factual and reasonable as he imagines.
