In Switzerland, the new Mattstetten-Rothrist railway line was opened in 2004 and the Lötschberg Base Tunnel in 2007. A new low-floor tram, the "Cobra", was introduced in Zurich. On 1 January 2004, the new Disability Discrimination Act came into force and triggered a surge in investment by the Swiss railways. Stadler delivered the first FLIRT for the new S-Bahn Zug. On 22 June 2005, after the blackout on the SBB network, nothing worked at all. The Glacier Express received new carriages in 2006 and the Rhaetian Railway received the "Allegra", Switzerland's most powerful metre-gauge multiple-unit train, in 2009.
