Product details
In "Yesterday Burns," a woman's possessions go up in flames. Shaken to her core by the shock, Veronika, the first-person narrator, wants nothing to do with herself and her past. Secluded in an unnamed place, she is quite happy to have escaped the outside world. In sleepless nights, but also due to the curious questions from her roommate Ruth, Veronika is overwhelmed by feelings and thoughts. She encounters the girl who knows her guilt in the death of an infant, sees images of the mother who only comes to life when her friend visits, and grapples with a whole series of lovers, all of whom want to assert their place. Small stagings of a world that Veronika must assume was her own. The power structures of the inner world are reflected in the relationship between Veronika and Ruth.
