Weiter als der Horizont

In Andreas Knapp's poems, the unfulfilled longing for that bold love resonates, a love that goes all in and settles for nothing less than the living God. These are searching words that come "mindfully" from the heart, far from a worn-out sacred language; words of longing that reach out to the inexhaustible "You." The texts take the reader into the stream of tradition of Jewish-Christian promise history and poetically proclaim great theological themes, all of which are entirely biblically inspired. We do not hear admonishing appeals, but rather listen to gentle "knocking signs," receive hospitable invitations, and theology-informed directions "to the gate of language." In them, it becomes clear where all theology has its origin: in prayer to God.
