This book conveys the current specialized knowledge for bricklayers and concrete and reinforced concrete builders in their second and third years of training. Since the learning fields for the two professions are arranged differently in the curricula, the book is divided into chapters. However, the content aligns with the requirements of the Federal Framework Curriculum and imparts the knowledge for a learning field of one or both professions. The connections of the chapters to the learning fields are presented at the beginning of each chapter and in the table of contents.

Due to its project-oriented approach and the didactic-methodical preparation of the content, this work is very well suited for independent, self-directed learning and gradually introduces students to the self-regulation of their learning processes. Special emphasis has been placed on visualization in the design. The explanatory illustrations are directly associated with the text. The accompanying simple and clear language ensures even better comprehensibility regarding the learning content.

The additional structuring of the content, the colored illustrations developed from didactic and methodological perspectives, and the numerous current photos further enhance learning motivation and significantly contribute to improved learning success. Safety, damage prevention, and environmental protection guidelines are memorably highlighted through special symbols. Additionally, marginal notes clarify the interconnection of the content.

The 2023 edition has been updated to reflect the latest standards in technology and regulation. Over 50 pages have seen updates or additions, yet the page fidelity to the previous edition has been maintained. Notable changes in the new edition include the renewal or revision of numerous illustrations during the revision and update process. In Chapter 2, the section on "Facing Brickwork" has been added.
