Earnings Quality und Fair Value-Bewertung

The primary purpose of external financial reporting is to provide a company's stakeholders with decision-useful information through financial statements. To meet this requirement, balance sheet items are valued using various measurement bases, such as fair value or historical cost. However, there is no consensus in the literature on accounting research regarding which measurement basis is the most appropriate. For this reason, this book examines earnings quality to determine which measurement basis is superior to the others. The construct of earnings quality serves as a measure of decision usefulness and also provides the necessary evaluation criteria for an objective comparison in the form of quality characteristics. The methodological foundation of the book is a comprehensive literature review of empirical studies followed by an analytical section. Insightful findings can be derived from the results of the investigation.
