The foundation of the book is the theory of the three development phases developed by Bernard Lievegoed, which was published in German translation in 1974 under the title "Organization in Transition": the pioneer phase, the differentiation phase, and the integration phase. Friedrich Glasl now connects the three-phase model with the latest findings from evolutionary system theories and adds a fourth phase, the association phase. He demonstrates how the concept of the "Lean Organization" continues the thinking of the integration phase. Additionally, he illustrates the principles of dialectical development through the example of the four development phases, which can lead to progress or regression, stagnation or innovation. The book provides guidance and many tested practical aids for leaders in their current tasks.
