Product details
This book on the simulation of social practices opens up a vast area of interesting and important applications. Social practices form the foundation of many social, complex systems, such as communities, societies, cooperatives, organizations, institutions, states, and many others. This book analyzes and simulates a generic case group, in which there are hundreds of similar cases. The study of social systems here utilizes two important simulation components for future research. First, this work explores the psychological world of actors for computer simulations. This world can be constructed using the concepts of belief, intention, and desire. Ms. Hofmann employs two of the three central psychological terms, namely belief and intention, while the world of desires is only implicitly used in this work. These components will certainly play a role in many subsequent simulations. In the simulations described here, a large number of beliefs and a smaller number of intentions of the actors are generated. In the first step, only a rough framework of rationality postulates is used. The many logics that bring the belief systems into a rational order can only be applied in a simulation if the belief systems are filled with rational content. However, the normal human world is only limitedly rational, and the irrational tendencies of humans have so far only been found in initial approaches in formal branches of science. Therefore, as a second component of the simulation, a component that has so far been treated as a stepchild has been used, namely actions.
