Dusi

Dusi (pronounced Duschi) and her sister Klarika lose both parents and all their siblings, their family home, and ultimately their Hungarian homeland in a short period as young children. Both must find their way anew. Although they share the same background, one of them adapts better to the new life than the other. Suddenly, appearance and reality collide. Finding one's own identity between societal expectations and the desire for self-determination becomes a precarious balancing act. Dusi, as a creative, independent, and yet adaptable personality, forges her own path. Externally of rather delicate stature, she is internally unyielding when it comes to seeking tenacious and enduring solutions for seemingly hopeless situations. The vivid and ever-present memories of early childhood in rural Hungary prove to be a solid foundation and source of strength for Dusi.
