Naokos Lächeln

For the thirty-seven-year-old Toru Watanabe, the Beatles earworm "Norwegian Wood" is a melancholy song of remembrance: of the turmoil of emotions in a painful and fateful youth, which he tries to preserve and understand. "Naoko's Smile" tells lively and passionate about a love with complications in the troubled sixties: Toru, the lonely, serious student of theatre studies, fascinated by literature, music and wordless Sunday walks on Tokyo's streets, learns early that the loss of people is part of life and the drama of growing up. The childhood friend Kizuki commits suicide, the mysteriously attractive Naoko gets lost in her own unreachable world and Toru Watanabe has to choose between her and the Midori, who is vibrating with lust for life.
