The Duden Pronunciation Dictionary is the standard reference for questions of pronunciation and emphasis in German. The 8th edition has been expanded by over 4,000 entries and contains 144,000 pronunciations for words and names, including commonly used foreign words and names in German. All entries have been recorded, and the audio files are available for download. A detailed chapter describes the rules of pronunciation, and numerous information boxes provide insights into pronunciation phenomena such as speech pauses when using gender-neutral language. The dictionary was developed in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute for the German Language in Mannheim.
