During a trip to Australia in 1995, the author Kathy Acker meets McKenzie Wark. Wark's book "Virtual Geography," which explores life with global media, has just been published. The two spend intense days and nights together, followed by a two-week exchange of high-frequency emails after Acker returns to the USA. They write to each other several times a day in a frenzy, where electronic messages intertwine, and everything can become a medium for their transpacific courtship: Alfred Hitchcock and stuffed animals, Georges Bataille and Elvis Presley, The Simpsons, phenomenology, The X-Files, Elfriede Jelinek, and the I Ching. The texts buzz with sex, politics, and culture, insights and silliness, leading to intimate closeness and painful misunderstandings before the exchange suddenly comes to an end.
