At minus 20 degrees, every hour counts. Hanna Ahlander is 34 when her world collapses just before Christmas. Her boyfriend leaves her for someone else, and her supervisor suggests she resign from her position at the Stockholm police. After she refuses to cover for a criminal colleague, the police force turns against her. Fortunately, there are women in this male-dominated world: like her older sister, who quickly sends her to Åre to her vacant holiday home. Hanna is still wallowing in self-pity when she receives a missing person report. After a party, the young Amanda has not returned home. At minus 20 degrees, every hour counts. Hanna joins the search effort and keeps her eyes and ears open. Soon, she knows more than the local police.
