Catcalls – Auch Worte sind Belästigung

Chalked Up! Using chalk against sexual harassment. "Nice ass!" or "You don't have any tits!" are just two of countless stupid remarks that girls, women, and non-binary people in Germany and around the world constantly have to endure. Just like that, in public. People look, a few shake their heads, but no one says anything. This is called catcalling. Often, those affected are left with feelings of shame, guilt, and fear: Did I do something wrong? Was it just a compliment? How can I defend myself? The Chalk-Back movement has a clear answer: no more silence or looking away! There are over 280 groups worldwide, 119 of them in Germany. Activists write the catcalls in chalk on the streets – right where they occurred – and also make them visible on Instagram.
