Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany are moving closer together in the Aachen, Liège and Maastricht region. Looking across the border has been normal for people in the border triangle for generations. The three countries influence each other in many ways - also when it comes to enjoyment and lifestyle. The Dreiländerschmeck project from Medienhaus Aachen has set itself the task of documenting and preserving the food culture in the region. Which preparation methods and ingredients characterize our three countries? Where are there influences and similarities? Did you know, for example, that the origins of the Aachen Printe lie in Dinant in Wallonia? And that chicory, which was first cultivated in Brussels, is hardly noticed in many parts of Germany, while it has a firm place in traditional cuisine in the Aachen area? This cookbook represents a unique collection of traditional and modernly interpreted recipes as they were and are cooked in families from our region. The special feature: For each recipe there is a little story describing traditions, memories or origins. The Dreiländerschmeck team has cooked and tested all the dishes.
