Even the mightiest river begins as a small stream. Thus, the Danube presents itself on its journey through Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, initially young and wild, but later becoming sluggish and majestic. It winds through the narrow Danube Valley, passing castles and palaces on steep limestone cliffs. Then, it flows more gently and wider past the baroque residence cities and the tallest church tower in the world in Ulm. A special natural highlight awaits you just before Kelheim: the Danube squeezes through the Weltenburg Narrows, a spectacle you can experience up close on a boat trip. Along the way, the Audi metropolis of Ingolstadt and Regensburg, with its over 2,000-year history, offer a variety of attractions until you finally reach the Three Rivers City of Passau.
