Hungover, Holger "Holle" Schneise wakes up in the Austrian Alps: Like every summer, the reporter of the tabloid Berliner Bote has travelled to Bertha HSC's training camp to report on the capital's biggest and most unsuccessful football club. A nightmare for Schneise, who detests hard work as much as the media change in his man's world, where it's all about quick clicks instead of real journalism. And wasn't football once closer to the grassroots? But just as he threatens to drown his frustration and his career in fruit schnapps, a big story falls at his feet: half drunk, half dreaming, he watches the Brazilian Bertha star Jimmi leave the team hotel and get pulled into a car. Has he escaped - or been kidnapped?

Schneise decides to look for the missing footballer and soon gets help from influencer Amira Brösel, Jimmi's tough fiancée, who drags the lazy reporter through the alpine madness. But what role do the club, Jimmi's shady player's advisor and the Russian oligarch, who is also staying in the Austrian village, play?
