The Lazy Nut

Places where things seem to function differently. Okka-Esther Hungerbühler (born 1988 in Bonn; lives and works in Berlin) creates dreamlike microcosms and pictorial fantasies. In her paintings, concrete narrative details and stories unfold, which she resolves in her sculptures with powerful gestures. The works of Thomas Zipp's master student create scenic moments in the exhibition space, where the somewhat robotic sculptures seem to always consider their viewers and interact with the paintings. The question that her vague characters and essential scenes seem to formulate an answer to is how it is still possible today to tell fantastic, sad, and wild stories. The publication "The Lazy Nut" presents sculptures, as is typical for Hungerbühler, in connection with painting, where, as in Pop Art and comics, objectivity merges with abstraction. Featuring a text by Maurin Dietrich and a foreword by Brigitte Hausmann.
