Diskriminierung sozialer Minderheiten

Japan, a country between modernity and tradition. At first glance, it seems like a land where possibilities are limitless and one can live as they wish. However, upon closer inspection, restrictions within society become apparent. Discrimination against individuals who lead a lifestyle different from what the majority expects is not uncommon. This discrimination is also felt by homosexuals in Japan. The following work illustrates, through various examples, the issues faced by Japanese individuals who are interested in the same sex. Since the topic of discrimination is vast, the author primarily focuses on six different areas of discrimination. In addition to institutional, individual, and structural discrimination, symbolic, linguistic, and everyday discrimination are also addressed. A concluding outlook provides insight into whether the situation for same-sex relationships in Japan is undergoing change or if a constant state is to be expected.
