1975 in northern Germany: After the death of her mother, 14-year-old Beeke feels there is nothing left for her on her parents' dreary farm, so she escapes by train to Munich. Here, her older brother has been living a wild, free life for years - as a disco producer. Beeke only has a vague idea of what that means. "You wrote back then that a whole new sound was emerging in Munich, the Munich Sound. It was supposed to be the big thing." In Munich, she senses the feverish spirit of change; during the day she sleeps, and at night she searches for her brother in nightclubs. But when she finally finds him, the situation is very different from what she had imagined. Then Beeke learns why her brother felt compelled to leave their hometown in such a hurry. With empathy, humor, and a rich sense of the era, Till Raether brings to life a unique time - the musical avant-garde of the 1970s in Munich - and describes a feeling of life caught between societal upheaval and grappling with the life lies of the parental generation.
