Sometimes you have to step out of line to find true happiness. Bochum 1976: 19-year-old Doro has married the first man she fell in love with—mainly to escape the clutches of her family. But soon her husband only wants one thing: children. To give Doro time to start a family, he quits her job at the kindergarten. Doro is beside herself. To escape her stifling marriage, even for a few precious hours, she dives into the nightlife and discovers the sparkling disco scene through her sister's friend, an American GI. Together with her brother, she devises a plan to open Bochum's first disco. And when she meets the attractive dancer Robert one night, Doro instantly feels: This is what true love feels like.
