Dionysius Areopagita

At the top of the Western mysticism, theologically next to Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, there is the name of a famous unknown. He named himself after a New Testament figure in the circle of the Apostle Paul,namely Dionyius of Areopagus in Athens. In fact, he is an unidentified Eastern Church theologian who lived around 500 and went through the philosophical school of Plotinus and his successors. This gave him the opportunity to introduce the mysteries of Christianity and its esotericism with these ideas of the eternal and nameless "One". The selected texts on the mystery ground of mystical experience and some letters make understandable why this great unknown is indispensable from the history of mysticism.
