First love

It is after midnight when Vladimir tells two friends the story of his first love. The princess Zinaida is five years older than the sixteen-year-old at the time. Vladimir must painfully learn that despite his deep love for Zinaida, he serves only as a toy to satisfy her whims. This bitter realization robs him of all sense of value. 'First Love' authentically reflects the social conditions of contemporary Russia, which provide the external framework for the events. The loss of moral values pertains both to the individual and to an entire generation.
