Insider knowledge for female career starters: What prevents equality of opportunity in the workplace and how to succeed nonetheless

Women's careers are hindered for various reasons, often even before they become mothers and fall into the part-time trap. In the first five years of their careers, they encounter obstacles that their male colleagues do not have to face, which ensures that management boards and executive levels in German companies remain predominantly male. Mirijam Trunk became the managing director of Bertelsmann's podcast company Audio Alliance at the age of 27 and now, three years later, works as Chief Crossmedia Officer on RTL's leadership team. She observes daily how traditional gender roles, ingrained behaviors, and network structures impede equality of opportunity, and how both men and women contribute to the status quo remaining unchanged. In her book, she outlines these hurdles and offers tips on how to overcome them. She supports her own experiences with accounts from other women in leadership positions from business, politics, and culture whom she interviewed for her book – including Tijen Onaran, Lou Dellert, Fränzi Kühne, Alice Hasters, and Sigrid Nikutta.
