Product details
This textbook pursues two main objectives: First, it provides an introduction to policy analysis, and second, it presents the essential characteristics of the processes, content, and institutional frameworks of Swiss environmental policy. It strongly focuses on the substantive aspects of policy, specifically what is meant by the term "policy." To illustrate environmental policy, examples from various environmentally relevant policy areas, such as water protection policy or climate policy, are used. These considerations are complemented by an overview of newer governance approaches and environmental policy integration. The aim of this textbook is, on one hand, to introduce students from technical universities and universities of applied sciences, for whom political science approaches are not central to their studies, to political scientific thinking and analysis, as well as to highlight the specifics of the environmental topic area. On the other hand, the textbook is suitable for political science students who wish to pursue a specialization in environmental issues. Thus, this book serves as an ideal tool for teaching policy analysis in general and environmental policy and sustainability in particular. Thanks to the variety of discussed approaches and topics, the systematic elaboration of individual processes, and an overview of the extensive literature on Swiss environmental policy, this textbook also represents a useful working tool for professionals in administration and practice, as well as for anyone interested in environmental issues.
