Ivo Schwander, to whom this festschrift is dedicated on the occasion of his 65th birthday, can look back on an extraordinarily fruitful academic career across a variety of legal fields. He made significant contributions to the development of law in both civil and procedural law, as well as in national and international law. Additionally, his altruistic work as an educator and promoter of young talent runs like a red thread through his biography. Alongside his role as a university teacher, he created and supported numerous platforms for knowledge dissemination and further education. In doing so, he provided countless legal professionals with the opportunity to present themselves publicly. He has played a crucial role in ensuring that academic knowledge is passed on to practitioners and that practitioners' experiences are made accessible to academia. In this way, he has rendered invaluable services to the scientific community, whether its members are engaged in research or practice.
