Since the third edition of the St. Gallen Commentary on the Federal Constitution in 2014, Swiss constitutional law has developed dynamically. Not only have new and sometimes controversial constitutional provisions been added, but the Covid-19 pandemic has also subjected constitutional law to a real stress test. Additionally, various new foundational works and commentaries on the Federal Constitution have been published since the last edition. The fourth, completely revised edition takes these developments and additions to constitutional law, as well as the literature and case law, into account. Besides the in-depth commentary on individual constitutional provisions, a hallmark of the St. Gallen Commentary is that the thematic introductions and preliminary remarks provide a systematic overview and place constitutional law in a broader context.
