The prevention of foreign corruption plays an important role in compliance consulting for companies. Initiated by international conventions, the German legislator internationalized German criminal law on corruption at an early stage with the Law on Combating International Bribery (IntBestG) and the EU Bribery Act (EUBestG). However, the ruling of the Federal Supreme Court on the 'Siemens case' at the latest has shown that not only individual questions remain unresolved with regard to these laws. The study first establishes the dogmatic foundations necessary for a meaningful application of the current law. From the perspective of legal policy, it then describes which conventions are intended to further the internationalization of German criminal law on corruption - and to what extent the German legislature has so far done well not to implement these changes.
