Digitalisierung und (Inter-)Kulturalität

This volume addresses the interaction between culture and digital transformation. Data technologies and artificial intelligence are changing the world of work and increasingly shaping daily life. At the same time, they are expressions of culture and open up spaces for the construction of cultural belonging and distinction. While concepts of culture were based on the idea of local communication systems until recently, the internet has made communication without spatial and temporal limitations a given.

These developments raise a number of themes and questions for intercultural research: Does computer technology lead to a global homogenization of culture? Are there culture-specific ways of dealing with artificial intelligence? What forms of cultural expression can be found on the internet? Do we need to rethink interculturality in the context of digitalization?

The contributions in this volume engage with these and other questions. They draw on theoretical concepts and methodological approaches from various scientific disciplines. The volume aims to contribute to interdisciplinary exchange on the cultural aspects of digitalization and is intended for those interested in research and practice.
