Importantly, no definitive, evaluative conclusion is drawn in advance—rather, the often controversial viewpoints of the authors contribute to the value of this work and particularly to the societal discussion surrounding digital transformation.

The editors: Prof. Dr. Christian Bär is responsible for the digital transformation of DATEV eG as Chief Digital Officer in the management team. Additionally, he serves as a professor of business informatics, particularly in process and project management, at Steinbeis University Berlin. Prof. Dr. Thomas Grädler, LL.M., is a lawyer and tax advisor at the law firm honert + partner mbB in Munich, which specializes in corporate, tax law, and M&A. He is also a lecturer at the University of Bayreuth and a professor of business law, particularly corporate transactions and corporate law, as well as tax law at Steinbeis University Berlin. Dr. Robert Mayr is a tax advisor and chairman of the board of DATEV eG. He also worked as an auditor from 2000 to 2011. Among his key professional positions before joining the board of DATEV in April 2011 were a nine-year tenure as managing director at a large German auditing firm and leading roles in auditing and transaction consulting at Deloitte between 1994 and 2001.
