The volume offers students of the Bachelor's program in Psychology a current and easily understandable introduction to personality theories. Ranging from classical approaches of psychoanalysis and behaviorism to modern trait-theoretical and cognitive-affective personality systems, the twelve chapters of the textbook introduce key theoretical approaches for describing and explaining human personality and its uniqueness. The presented personality theories differ in their fundamental concepts as well as in their varying emphasis on the significance of universal aspects of human nature compared to the uniqueness of the individual. The focus of the volume is on theories that currently dominate personality psychology, supplemented by classical approaches.
