Most people only know Richard Müller from historical studies, but he played a central role in the November Revolution of 1918: Richard Louis Müller (1880-1943) was significantly involved in the preparations for November 9 as the leader of the "Revolutionary Delegates." In the German Metalworkers' Union, which was the largest union in the world at the time, Richard Müller was regarded as the leader of the left wing. He had already organized the major mass strikes in Berlin from 1916 to 1918 illegally. In the revolutionary government of 1918, Müller served as the chairman of the "Executive Council of Workers' and Soldiers' Councils," making him the head of the highest-ranking council body. Formally, Richard Müller was even the head of state of the "German Socialist Republic"—a republic that only existed under this title for a few months and is now known in history books as the Weimar Republic.
