The new series in line with the core curriculum from the 2020/2021 school year The new concept of the Diercke Geography series for secondary schools and subject-specific comprehensive schools in North Rhine-Westphalia impresses with its innovative approach to the subject matter to be taught. The learning content corresponds exactly to the requirements of the new core curriculum. Interdisciplinary school tasks such as media, sustainability and consumer education are taken into account throughout. The focus is on learning through discovery and research: a short, motivating introduction introduces the pupils to the topic on each double page and arouses their interest. Skills are acquired and consolidated by working through the diverse and thematically pre-structured materials. The small-step and skills-orientated tasks support the pupils in acquiring skills and ensure lasting (learning) success. The materials are accompanied by a clearly structured textbook text that is optimally adapted to the age group. A lot of space is given to practising and applying: The chapters end with a "Known - Skilled double page". Different types of tasks allow for individualised skills assessment. With the help of the method appendix, the learning of geographical working methods can be flexibly embedded in the course of the lesson. The textbook texts are linguistically simplified for special needs pupils in integration classes and published in a suitable accompanying volume "Textbook texts in simple language". This accompanying material is supplemented by worksheets for pupils with special needs in the teacher's book and in the BiBox. With this broad and coordinated range of materials, teachers can respond optimally to different learning situations, provide pupils with new insights and thus enable them to acquire and consolidate skills.
