Medicine in the 21st century will change faster than ever before - and with it, healthcare. Groundbreaking developments in research and digitalization will enable the analysis and utilization of vast amounts of data in a short time. This will completely transform our understanding of health and being healthy, as well as the emergence, prevention, and treatment of diseases. At the same time, the way medicine is practiced will fundamentally change. The self-perception of nearly all stakeholders will need to evolve rapidly. The healthcare system will be restructured and partially reinvented in all areas. Digital transformation, personalization, and prevention are the driving forces of the new medicine. Germany must not miss this opportunity. Compared to other countries, the German healthcare system is disadvantaged in many respects.
