Product details
The history of evaluation's development has been an extraordinary success worldwide and has been characterised by extreme growth for twenty years. This also applies to Germany, where evaluation has been institutionalised at various levels. This book deals with three different facets of this institutionalisation and ventures a look at possible future development trends. The first section focuses on the anchoring of evaluation in society. Without doubt, the success of evaluation cannot be explained without the rapidly growing demand from public clients. But why evaluation has become a key concept of social development and whether this trend will continue unabated are currently open questions. In order for evaluation to fulfil the described functions, requirements and expectations in society, a professional range of corresponding services and products is needed on the other hand. The qualifications and professional foundations required for this are generally taught in the science system. The development of the anchoring of evaluation in research and teaching as well as the trends to be expected there are the focus of the second section. Closely related to this is the question of whether evaluation should become an independent profession or be institutionalised as a special area of application in the subject disciplines. This concerns the state of theory and methodological development in evaluation as well as its unique selling points vis-à-vis the established social sciences.
