Tamino is to free the beautiful Princess Pamina together with the jolly bird catcher Papageno, because the feared Prince Sarastro is holding her captive in his castle. To ensure that their daring rescue plan succeeds, Pamina's mother, the Queen of the Night, gives Tamino and Papageno a magic flute and a glockenspiel. With this, the rescuers can transform evil into good and tame wild animals in the forest. Tamino and Papageno endure difficult trials until they all lie happily in each other's arms. Bert Alexander Petzold tells the fairy-tale opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) in an exciting and funny way for children from the age of five. The illustrator Helena Perez Garcia succeeds masterfully in making the eventful plot comprehensible through novel, colourful pictures.
