Rotors discs intended for regular use are typically manufactured using the gravity casting process. If the cooling process and the initial temperature of the mold are not well controlled, a shrinkage cavity may occur after solidification, leading to leaks in the disc wheel. This study employs casting simulation software to simulate the casting process of a rotor disc. By improving the gating system and adding appropriate feeders, an optimal process parameter scheme is identified. It is shown that with the correct selection of input factors for the simulation, satisfactory results can be achieved in most cases. The software Pro Cast, based on the finite element method, is considered in this study as it is faster and more accurate than the finite difference method and easier to use since it does not create mesh gaps. The user interface is easy to understand and user-friendly. An effective gating system has been proposed by adapting the gating system to the original design to eliminate casting defects observed in the initial design of the gating system.
