Gioconda Belli was born in Managua; she studied in Spain and the USA. From 1970, she participated in the resistance of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) against the Somoza dictatorship in her country. After 1979, she mainly worked in political education and as a cultural editor. She currently lives as a writer in Managua and San Francisco. Her novels and poems have achieved international success. Wolf Erlbruch, born in 1948, studied graphic design and worked as an illustrator in the advertising industry before he began writing and illustrating children's books in the late 1980s. He is a professor at the University of Wuppertal. In addition to numerous awards, Wolf Erlbruch received the Gutenberg Prize from the City of Leipzig in 2003 for his body of work and the special prize of the German Youth Literature Prize. Among the works published by Peter Hammer Verlag are: "The Little Mole Who Wanted to Know Who Had Pooped on His Head" (Text: Werner Holzwarth), "The Terrible Five," "Leonard," "The Bear Wonder" (German Youth Literature Prize 1993), "The Workshop of Butterflies" (Text: Gioconda Belli), "Mrs. Meier, the Blackbird," "The Man-Eater" (Text: Valéry Dayre), "At Night," "In the Beginning" (Text: Bart Moeyaert), "The Big Question," and the children's room calendars (1994-99, 2004-11).
Among the creators of things on this earth is Rodolfo, the grandson of the inventor of the rainbow. He has a dream: he wants to create a being as beautiful as a flower, as lively as an insect, and as light as a small bird. He sits by the water, thinks, and finally has his great idea.
