Ascona in the summer of 1933, a young woman and her lover spend the summer holidays in the "happy nest" on Lake Maggiore. The journey becomes an emotional adventure. Amidst a colourful crowd of life artists, the two of them - each in his own way - are tempted. In 1933 the German-Jewish writer Victoria Wolff emigrated with her children to the legendary artists' village on Monte Verità, where she made friends with Tilla Durieux, Leonhard Frank, Erich Maria Remarque and Ignazio Silone, among others.
