Fascism is in all of us "The Wave" is an experiment by teacher Ben Ross with a school class that had doubts about the behaviour of Germans during the Third Reich, but in the end answers the question "How does fascism come about?" through their own actions. "Fascism - not a phenomenon that only affects others - it's in all of us." This statement is formulated by the teacher Ben Ross in the fictional school class of Die Welle. It is correct and topical. A discussion of the topic of fascism in German lessons is necessary and should not only show the effects, but also how it came about, i.e. "How could it come about?". This reading guide was developed with a school class by the authors Michaela and Udo Staleker and Julia Biedermann and helps to open up the reading The Wave by Morton Rhue. The novel was published in 1981 and is based on an experiment conducted in 1967 by the history teacher Ron Jones at a Californian high school. Chapter by chapter, the reader is guided through the plot of the novel and gradually gets to know the various characters. A diagram on a double-page spread begins after reading the first chapter and is supplemented with further information about the characters as the reader progresses. In between, readers are given writing tasks in which they slip into the role of one of the main characters and write a diary entry from their point of view, for example. After completing each chapter, readers enter a personal heading in a chapter overview and note down in keywords what happened in the chapter. A teacher's booklet is available separately under ISBN: 978-3-946482-68-0. Our theatre DVD and extensive materials on the DVD and available as a booklet complete the package perfectly.
