Product details

A small swift hatches from the egg. He learns to fly, glide - and he immediately knows how to catch insects in flight. At the end of the summer, he sets off on the long journey to Africa to return next year.
Swifts spend their whole life in the air, only during strong thunderstorms do they cling to a house wall, and for breeding they look for shelter. They even catch blades of grass for nest-building in flight, and they also sleep in flight.
Once again Anne Möller succeeds in telling understandable stories about the incredible way of life of an animal. At the end of the picture book there is an appendix with explanations, and further information can be downloaded from the Internet.
The non-fiction picture book was created in collaboration with experts from the Swiss Ornithological Institute Sempach.
Detailed accompanying materials
18 pages about the way of life of swifts and the possibilities to protect them. In addition: observation tips, addresses of specialist offices, links and references.
