The walnut tree is one of the most picturesque trees in our landscape, its wood one of the noblest in our climate zone, and the nuts are considered a healthy delicacy. This book summarizes the rich knowledge about the walnut and its surprisingly diverse culture and tradition. The true walnut, Juglans regia, is just one species of a diverse plant family whose natural distribution spans four continents. Of the approximately 60 species, 30 and some hybrids can be found in our parks. This includes hickories, wingnuts, and botanical rarities such as the cone or ringnut.
